Little Cosmetics Pretend MakeUp: Review and Giveaway!!

Ariana and Lily both love make-up. They enjoy watching me put it on, they get into my stuff when I’m not looking, they experiment with it and they just really like dolling themselves up. I am not a fan of this at all! I know girls will be girls but I just don’t think 4 and 5 year old girls should be wearing real make-up. They are just way to young to have blush, mascara, eyeshadow, lip stick, etc… on their face. I personally don’t even like lip gloss, mostly because it ends up all over everything! Walls, furniture, floors, toys, etc… It is a huge mess. I find myself getting very irritated with them and their obsession with make-up.

Then I found out about this awesome make-up from Little Cosmetics. It is pretend make-up that looks and feels completely real! I thought to myself, this would be perfect for them. They can still explore with the whole make-up idea without actually wearing it. Plus, there is no mess, my favorite part! This had to be the best of both worlds!

The Essential Set details: (from their website)

The perfect play make-up set – with all of the Essentials! You won’t believe how realistic this pretend make-up looks and feels. With vibrant, realistic shades and a soft, smooth texture this set is sure to please your little girl. And best of all – it doesn’t show up or transfer onto skin!

Mine and the Girls Experience:

When I first got the approval for the review, I showed the girls the website and pictures of what they were going to get to review. They were thrilled! I mean, jumping up and down screaming and laughing thrilled. They waited, asking every day “Did it come?”. Finally the set arrived and they couldn’t hold their excitement any longer. Yet, they still had to wait. I needed to check it out myself first.

I grabbed the set, took some pictures and started checking it out. I was so impressed. Everything looked and felt real. Nothing transferred to my skin and it was just really cool. Now, I’m a little jealous! There was not pretend make-up like this when I was little. I got that horrible stuff that hardly even looked like make-up.

Now, it is the girls turn. We were getting ready to have our pictures done and I thought it was a perfect time for them to try it out. I got them ready, sat them at the table and handed them the make-up set. I told them to go ahead and finish dolling themselves up for their big photo shoot. Notice, I haven’t told them it wasn’t real yet. They played and played. They had such a wonderful time.

  • ARIANA: “Mom, is this stuff real?”
  • ME: “Well, what do you think?”
  • ARIANA: “It looks like your make-up, It feels like your make-up. But is it showing up on my face?”
  • ME: “You look beautiful girls! Keep up the good work. Don’t put on too much though”
  • BOTH THE GIRLS: “Okay mom! Don’t worry, we will clean it up when we are done”
  • ME: “Okay, good to hear!” (Not holding my breath, since my kids never clean up anything!)

After about 45 minutes, they decided they had enough make-up and were ready for their photo shoot! To my surprise, they actually picked everything up and placed it all back into the drawstring bag. I couldn’t believe! They cared about this stuff so much that they were actually taking care of it. Then, they through it in the diaper bag, in case they needed to make any touch up’s before pictures, lol.

As of this moment, my girls still think the make-up is real. I am all about creativity and imagination, so I am not telling them otherwise. I wear very neutral colors, so you hardly notice I have make-up on. They believe that is the case with this stuff!

The girls love it! Lily woke up just this morning and the first thing she said was “Mom, wears my make-up? I hope Arianana didn’t take it with her to school”. Yes, Lily calls Ariana, Arianana, that’s not a typo;-)
